The essay identifies the free self-alienation and the reconciliation as the specific character of the Phenomenology of spirit last chapter, as opposed to an interpretation of the absolute knoweledge as appropriation of the other in the self-consciousness. Such self-alienation has already been developped by Hegel in the religion chapter.
